The TASTE Project (Transformative Approaches for Sustainable Food in Tourism) is funded by the European Commission under the Single Market Program (SMP). Its mission is to promote transformative change in sustainability, digitalisation, and resilience at the intersection of food and tourism. The project brings together partners from six European countries: Spain, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Latvia, and Slovenia.
On this transformation journey, TASTE targets two main groups: tourism stakeholders and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the tourism sector.
In particular, selected stakeholders will be empowered to become knowledge multipliers within tourism and related ecosystems, such as food and beverage, agri-food, culture, as well as the local and social economy. To this end, TASTE will offer a structured and comprehensive capacity-building programme, delivered through a train-the-trainer concept and study visits, based on best practices that can be replicated.
Capacity building will also be provided to tourism SMEs in the form of tailored training, consultancy services, and support to access funding and facilitate cross-border and cross-sector partnerships.
In addition, TASTE will launch the Go Green, Get Digital, Be Resilient acceleration programme, which will support collaborative projects by SMEs focusing on tourism and food management within tourism. Selected projects will take part in international innovation-focused events and receive funding and guidance to achieve their goals. For example, they will work on designing and adopting risk management and resilience strategies, integrating sustainable food management digital technologies and circular solutions, and developing new sustainable and accessible food tourism products and experiences. In total, more than 40 collaborative projects will be supported with €750,000 in funding, involving at least 80 tourism SMEs.
Ultimately, the TASTE Project aims to have a lasting impact on the tourism sector by fostering sustainable practices and innovative solutionsp
